You can make measurements with almost no equipment at all. Of course, you will get more accuracy by using proper measuring equipment.
In the simplest case you need a watch that measures seconds and a long tape measure (a builder's measure). A digital camera including one that can take short movies would be a bonus. Lastly, a notebook and a pen or pencil.
