Most rainforests are owned by countries where the number of people is growing rapidly and which are not wealthy –Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, Congo and so on.
These are countries under pressure. They are not going to stop using the rainforests if we wont stop using up our own countryside – and we are wealthier!
So we cannot just tell other people what to do – we have to make it worth their while.
