Q1: Why do new towns threaten rainforests?

Some parts of the rainforest grow over reserves of oil, gold and other minerals in the rocks.

Getting to these reserves means building new roads and cutting down the rainforest.

New jobs brings in new people and new towns are created. Once towns are set up there is a need for food and more rainforest is cut down for farmland.
