Q1: Why did the original people do little harm to the rainforest?

The people who first lived in the rainforest actually altered it hardly at all.

They lived in small groups, simply eating fruits, seeds and tubers and trying to shoot animals with bows and arrows.

However, the rainforest has few things for people to eat, so, as the number of people got larger, they could not carry on just hunting animals and gathering fruits, seeds and tubers.
