Q1: What do ants and other ground insects eat?

[Answer]

When fruits get ripe they fall from the canopy to the forest floor. As leaves die off, they fall to the ground, too. Many large animals, such as boars and elephants, make use of this 'rain' of food, but the most numerous are many insects that move about on the soil.

Here you will find giant millipedes, armies of ants, million upon million of termites, camouflaged beetles and a host of other specially adapted insects.
