Tropical rainforests are only found in low lying areas where it is hot.
If you go up a mountain it gets colder and the forest changes completely. This is why there are no rainforests on the Andes, even though part of it is at the equator.
On higher lands and mountains there are many fewer plants and they grow more slowly.
