Q1: If a satellite had looked down on Britain during the Ice Age, what would is have seen?

[Answer]

In the last Ice Age (which only stopped about 10,000 years ago), all of the mountains of Britain were under a thick ice sheet.

So the bottom of the ice scraped at both the mountaintops and the valleys. This is why we have mountains with rounded tops, not sharp peaks.
