It is only possible to have wilderness areas well away from people, such as in the Highlands of Scotland. But there are many poorly used small areas all over the country.
These small areas, which might have been quarries, mines or old factory sites, are often left abandoned. They will never become wilderness sites, but they can become home to many kinds of wildlife and give pleasure to many people at the same time.
