Q1: How do waves make the whole cliff fall down if they only crash at the bottom?

[Answer]

When there is a storm out at sea, huge waves come pounding against the cliffs. These waves are the reason the coast wears away much faster than any other part of the Earth's surface.

The waves beat against the rocks like a hammer. Over the years this weakens the rock, and some blocks become loose and fall away. This leaves the cliff above unsupported, and it tumbles down.
