 Kali
Kali is another form of Mahadevi. But as Parvati stands for the kind and gentle side of Mahadevi, Kali stands for terror, destruction and the fear that we must overcome before we can find God. Kali is also the destroyer of evil and of demons.
Durga
Durga is another form of Mahadevi. She is also called the ‘Divine Mother’ because she protects people from evil and misery by destroying evil forces such as selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger and ego.
She is usually shown holding weapons. These are used for the destruction of evil and the protection of good.
G Kali is made to look very frightening. She is usually shown wearing a tiger skin, and with tangled hair and fang-like teeth. Around her neck is a necklace of skulls. In her hands are severed heads, a dagger and a sword.
F According to Hindu tradition Durga was born fully grown from flames which came from the mouths of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and other gods who created her in order to destroy the symbols of death. She is usually shown with eight or ten arms. In each of her arms is a weapon, such as a trident,
a discus, a bow and arrow, a sword and shield and a javelin. Durga is often shown sitting on a lion or a tiger, which stand for her ability to be violent and aggressive when she is fighting evil.
