touched on everything. So they have a topic map in their heads. The teacher can then go over the topic knowing that the children have this topic map in their heads and so the detail provided by the teacher has a mental framework to be hung from.
3. The wind down
When the topic has been covered, the last banter is a friendly wind down so the whole thing does not appear to be a lecture, but just a fireside chat.
4. The enveloping material
The enveloping material is vital to this framework. It is presented as a magazine – the Grizzly Gazette.
Joe Visions’ Grizzly Gazette is named to be user friendly, and of course, has Wild West connotations. But the Gazette also allows us to cover a range of subjects and countries, just as in a normal magazine. Each subject begins with a video, with book and website links on subsequent pages. Thus we cover Science, History and Environment (at least) in every magazine issue
