Divide
(See: Continental divide.)
Dock
A place for vessels to load and unload cargo or to be repaired. Most docks are near river estuaries. The world’s largest excavated dry docks are in South Korea (525m long and 131m wide) and in Dubai (525m long and 100m wide).
Drainage
The removal of unwanted water from land surfaces. Drainage is used in towns and cities to get rid of rainwater and on farmland to prevent or reduce waterlogging of flat clay land. Drainage of river deltas is often called reclamation. (See also: Runoff.)
Drainage basin
The total area that drains to a river or a lake. Another related term is watershed. (See also: Basin.)

Coffee granule
Coffee granule dissolving in water
 Dissolve—When you put a spoonful of instant coffee in a cup of clear, hot water, the coffee granules seem to disappear, and the water turns brown (above).
The brown color is a clue to what has happened. Large granules of coffee have been pulled apart into tiny pieces and then scattered evenly within the water. This is also what happens when you add sugar.
Sugar and coffee are still in the water; the brown color comes from the coffee granules. If you tasted the water, you would be able to taste both coffee and sugar. The coffee, the sugar, and the water are still separate from one another; they only seem to have become part of the water (right). The coffee and the sugar are said to be dissolved in the water.
When a substance seems to disappear into a liquid, we say it has dissolved. The mixture it forms with the liquid is called a solution. The substance has become mixed in with the liquid.
This solution is made up of water, coffee, and sugar particles.
Coffee Sugar Water
Coffee and sugar are added to the water. They mix to make an even, brown solution. But if you look at the solution under a microscope, you will see that the coffee, sugar, and water are still separate.
