Gas giant planets

What are gas giant planets? Gas giant planets are the planets in the Solar System that do not have a rocky surface. They are large planets far from the Sun: Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus.

Jupiter is the largest of the Gas Giant Planets.

The planets that orbit the Sun are grouped into two kinds: those which are almost entirely rock, like the earth, and those which has a small rocky core deep within huge balls of gas. Jupiter is like this.

In general, the gas planets are much bigger then the rocky planets. Jupiter the largest of the gas planets, is almost big enough to be a sun.

The gas planets have moons around them and their surfaces are always on the move. The most famous of these planets with moving atmospheres is Jupiter, where the main feature is the spinning area of gas called the Great Red Spot.
