Today we’re travelling to a country called Kenya, on the continent of Africa.

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine this: Golden grass stretching as far as you can see. Tall giraffes nibbling leaves from treetops. Elephants moving slowly in a dusty line. And in the distance… a snow-capped mountain, even though you’re near the equator!

Welcome to Kenya.

Kenya is in East Africa. It has beaches with warm blue seas, huge open plains called savannas, rainforests, deserts, and high mountains. One of those mountains is Mount Kenya, the second-highest in Africa.

Many people know Kenya because of its wildlife. It is home to lions, zebras, cheetahs, rhinos, hippos, and hundreds of bird species. Some animals travel in enormous groups across the land every year. This journey is called the Great Migration. It is one of the most amazing natural events on Earth.

But Kenya is not just about animals. Over fifty different peoples live there, each with their own languages, music, clothes, and traditions. One famous group is the Maasai, who are known for their bright red clothing and beautiful beadwork. They have lived alongside wild animals for hundreds of years.

Kenya’s capital city is Nairobi. It is a busy modern city with tall buildings, schools, markets, and traffic. But here’s something surprising: just outside Nairobi is a national park where giraffes and rhinos still roam.

Children in Kenya go to school, play football, tell stories, and help their families, just like children everywhere. Some live in big cities. Others live in villages near farms or wildlife areas.

Kenya teaches us something important: A country can be many things at once. It can be ancient and modern. Wild and busy. Quiet and noisy. Traditional and changing. And that’s what makes it special.

So next time you see a picture of a lion on the savanna, or hear the word Africa, remember: Kenya is not just a place on a map. It is a land of people, stories, music, mountains, cities, and dreams.
