Q1: Which kind of surface bounces light?

[Answer]

When light rays reach an opaque surface, they bounce off it. Light rays are only soaked up by black surfaces, which is why they appear black.

Most surfaces are very rough and the light rays bounce off in all kinds of directions. This is why they're not mirrors.

When white light reaches transparent surfaces it enters them and can be split up into many colours, giving a rainbow.
