You can make a straw that will rise and fall in a plastic bottle. Plug one end of a straw with Blu-tack. Wrap a bit of Blu-tack around the other end as a weight and put the straw, plug end up, in a water-filled bottle. Screw on the cap and squeeze to see the straw rise and fall.
