Q1: Can you identify some of the animals in the picture loop?

[Answer]

Rivers often begin as fast-flowing streams with rocky beds. Fast mountain rivers would sweep many plants and animals away, so this area has fewest species.

In their middle stages, rivers get slower and flow over muddy beds. This gives many more species a chance to find a home.

Near the sea the river is tidal and the water is salty. So a different range of species is found.
