Q1: What is an example of a perennial desert plant that stores water in its stem?

[Answer]

Deserts are places where the rainfall is small and very unreliable. Most deserts are hot and sunny, so coping with drought is the main problem for any living thing in a desert.

Plants are adapted in two ways. Annuals have seeds that lie in the desert soil until rain comes. Then, they grow, flower and set seed before the ground dries out. Perennials store water in their stems and grow very slowly.
