Q1: What keeps the Earth close to the Sun?

[Answer]

The Sun is not a rocky body like the Earth. It is a boiling ball of gas with a surface temperature sixty times as hot as boiling water (6,000°C). This is what makes it a star.

The Sun is a star just like those you see twinkling in the night sky, but it is much, much closer to us.

The Sun gives light and heat to the Earth, and its huge size keeps us orbiting close to it, using a force called gravity.
