Q1: What is the difference between a gas and a liquid?

[Answer]

Ever wondered why a balloon makes a loud bang when it's popped? The answer is that the air rushes out of the pinhole at the speed of sound.

But you don't see anything happen because air is a gas and most gases are colourless.

Gases are made up of the same materials as solids and liquids, but spread very thinly. If we squashed a gas small enough it would become a liquid then a solid.
