Get a torch and very carefully unscrew the end where the batteries are fitted.

This varies with the make of the torch.

Take out the batteries and see which way they were fitted.

Now look down the torch body. Can you see all of the parts that make the circuit?

Replace the batteries and make sure the torch works.
