On the left are some woodlice under a rotting tree branch. Woodlice break down rotting wood and use it as food. Ground beetles hunt for other insects, but have to keep out of sight of birds, for they might then get eaten. Nearby, in the sunshine, flowers bloom and bees collect nectar.
