Q1: What do some plants do when it gets cold?

[Answer]

A plant will only grow if it is warm enough (usually over 6°C).

In some parts of the world the winters are cold and then plants stop growing. Some may also lose their leaves. They then rest until the warmth of spring triggers new leaves to sprout.

Plants grow fastest when they are very warm (about 25°C), but they stop growing again when it gets over 30°C.
