The second long period when dinosaurs lived is called the Jurassic times after the Jura mountains in France where good fossils are found. This was a time when the great single continent that had existed in Triassic times began to split up. This meant that each new continent was smaller and surrounded by ocean. As a result, more moist air reached the land and more plants could grow. Forests developed and gave food for more dinosaurs. It was after this that many of the giant dinosaurs developed.
