Dinosaurs and other giant reptiles became the masters of land, sea and sky from about 230 million years ago. They were amazingly successful and lasted until a great global catastrophe 65 million years ago. They lasted 165 million years; so far we have barely lasted 4 million. But, as you might expect over such a long period of time, some went extinct and others evolved, so the dinosaurs that lived in earliest times were not the same as those that lived at the end...
