Q: What is the place where the transept meets the nave called?

Transepts are extensions of the church sideways from where the nave meets the chancel. This meeting place is called the crossing. The result of adding transepts is to make the plan of the church into a cross.

At the end of each transept there is usually a door leading from the church.

Transepts are usually only found in large churches and cathedrals.
