Q1: Were black and white buildings black and white when they were built?

[Answer]

There are many villages and towns with some Tudor buildings in them. Some are brick, some are stone and some are timber.

The timber ones are the easiest to spot. Here is one on the left. It has small windows and oak beams on the outside. It's called a 'black and white', or 'magpie' house. The other buildings have bigger window panes and are made of brick. They're not Tudor.
