Imagine you are a peasant living in one of the village hovels during Elizabethan times. You have to pay rent to a yeoman for this filthy shack, but now you have no money because the farmer you work for has started to fence off his land and he needs fewer people.

How are you going to manage?

The parish might pay you a small amount of money because you are so poor, but this is hardly enough to keep alive on.

Make some suggestions as to how you might find another job in the village and why this might be difficult (hint: what skills do you have?).

Finally, act out what it might be like to gather up your tiny amount of belongings and start the long journey to the town with your family in search of work.
