Q1: What was the purpose of the hut that was built on the deck of the burial ship?

The burial ship at Sutton Hoo was huge. It was 30m long and 5m wide. It was probably for king Raedwald who lived in the 6th century.

In the centre of it a hut, or treasury, was built and the king's body and his grave goods were placed in there.

All kinds of goods were placed in the ship. There was food and barrels containing wine. There were swords and shields and armour. There were even gold coins.
