Q1: What was a villa like?

[Answer]

The Romans lived in many kinds of homes. Most of the poor lived in blocks of apartments without kitchens. They would go and buy their meals as 'fast-food' from stalls in the agora.

The wealthy lived in spacious houses built around courtyards. These were called villas. In the country the house was built inside a large walled enclosure and then the whole estate was called a villa, too.
