The Forum was the main square of the city.

The map (previous screen) shows it was surrounded by four major public buildings: the Capitolium, the Temple of Rome and Augustus (at the opposite end), the Curia and the Basilica. The main road (Decumanus Maximus) crosses the square

The square was covered with a layer of concrete, and stone laid on top.

Various statues of important people were placed on columns in the Forum.

The Capitolium temple was 20m high. Cpitolium means it was dedicate to the three gods whose temples were on the Capitol hill in Rome: Jupiter, Juno and Minerva.
