Q1: What was the circus used for?
[Answer]

Another great favourite with the Romans was the oval race track, called a circus. The enormous circus next to the Roman Forum was called the Greatest Circus, or Circus Maximus. It was 600 m long, 225 m wide and could seat 250,000.

In the centre was a place to house statues of gods and an obelisk taken from Egypt.

It was mostly used for 6km-long chariot races.
