The name for the 'Houses of Parliament' in ancient Rome was the Curia.
The Curia survives more or less intact. It is a rather plain building of brick. Inside all of the important decisions were taken.
Senators sat on each side and when they voted they moved around to sit on one side for yes and the other side for no. There was no secret voting.
