Late in Roman times, they discovered how to make great domes that did not need many columns to hold them up.

The domes were made with concrete – a material that the Romans invented.

The later temples were quite different in style to the early ones. The best preserved example is the Pantheon that you saw first on screen 1. These pictures give you a guided tour.
