Julius Caesar was born on July 12, 100 BC and was killed by other Roman senators on March 15, 44 BC. He was the most famous of the Roman military and government leaders.

Caesar won a power struggle within Rome. Then he brought many more powers to himself so that he became a dictator, or the first Roman emporer.

He invaded Gaul (now France) and took the Roman Empire to the English Channel. In 55BC, he invaded Britain (Britannia) and stayed for a while.

Caesar is widely thought of as one of the best military geniuses. politicians and leaders of all time. In 42 BC, two years after his assassination, the Roman Senate officially made him a Roman god.
