Q1: Why do the earliest Greek buildings not survive?

[Answer]

The Greeks were wealthy enough to pay for large buildings as early as the 7th century. However, these were made in wood and mud brick and have not survived.

So we really only know of what the Greeks made in later periods, when they began to use stone.

There was a basic similarity to all ancient Greek buildings. They were either based on a square or a rectangle.
