Nearly all Greek pottery was made for use in the home. They were decorated in black, white, red and yellow with people and scenes.
The decorations were originally of gods and goddesses in human form, but later they became battle and hunting scenes.
As a result, surviving pieces of pottery tell us much about the way the ancient Greeks lived.
