Zeus was the ruler of the Olympian gods. He had  enormous power and  absolute authority. He was thought of as a   father figure to  the other quarrelling gods. 
		Yet even the mighty Zeus could be  distracted, as his wife  Hera managed to do during the battle for Troy.
		
		This is because Zeus had a weakness for women and he loved goddesses and humans alike.
		
In Roman times, Zeus was known as Jupiter.
