Ramesses was involved in many building projects, but the most famous is the southern temple at Abu Simbel, on the border with Nubia.

Among his other buildings is the mortuary temple at Thebes called the Ramesseum, and a large number of colossal statues, including those in front of the pylon at Luxor and an even greater one at Karnak.
