Q1: Why did Thutmose III not become pharaoh as soon as his father died?

[Answer]

Thutmose III (or Tuthmosis III) was only a boy when his father died and so he ruled jointly with his step-mother Hatshepsut.

However, after two years Hatshepsut took over as ruler and it was only later that Thutmose became pharaoh.

He was a great military leader and won many famous battles, some of which are recorded on the temple walls at Karnak.
