Remember, Egyptians used pictures in the way we would use letters of the alphabet. These are called hieroglyphs.
They put the hieroglyphs in special ovals when referring to pharaohs. These are cartouches.
They tried to show people to their best advantage in pictures, with body face on, but head, arms and legs in side view.
