The hieroglyphic alphabet is an alphabet which you see carved on stone monuments and written on some papyrus pages. It's made up of little pictures. Each picture represents a sound or a letter of the alphabet.
The earliest version used one symbol for each word. But gradually the number of symbols increased and hundreds and even thousands of pictures were used in later versions.
