Down the ages, it has been common for people to offer sacrifices to their gods. Often these were things that mattered to them most. Sacrifices of animals have been common ways of making offerings.
Another way of making an offering is to make something using your best skills and then give it to the gods. But how could this be done. In Iron Age Britain weapons made this way were offered to the water gods by placing them in rivers. Hoards of coins and jewellery were offered to the gods by placing them in holes in the ground.
