Q1: How did Britain get dragged in to the war?

[Answer]

Germany had a treaty with Austria, so it was pulled into the war. This meant Germany was at war with Russia.

Britain had an agreement with Russia and France that if anyone was attacked, the others would come to its aid.

But Germany had a plan. This was to let the Austrians fight Russia while it swept into France through Belgium.

Britain told Germany it would go to war if they entered Belgium. The Germans ignored this and so forced Britain to go to war.
