Q: What do our troops do in Iraq?

In 2003, a coalition of many countries, led by the USA and UK, entered Iraq to remove the dictator Saddam Hussein. It was feared he might have instructed his scientists to make weapons of mass destruction.

It was the task of the UK troops to secure and hold the area in the south around the port city of Basra. That is where the UK troops have been ever since, helping to bring back democracy and make the country safe. It has not been an easy task.
