Q: What is different between 1950s toys and modern toys?

The 1950s was a decade before most toys were powered by electric motors and well before any computer toys. Instead, toys were still designed to be pushed about by hand. They were made in traditional materials, such as wood and metal. Boys played with metal (usually lead) cars and lorries and made cranes and other shapes using construction kits such as Meccano.

Girls played with dolls which lived in wooden dolls' houses. Dresses were mostly hand made by mum or granny.
