In many tropical countries rain falls only at certain times of the year. As it is hot in every month, the seasons in these places are controlled by rain. The seasons are called rainy and dry seasons.
Most places in the tropics have one dry season and one wet season, but some places have two rainy and two dry seasons. If the rainy season starts very quickly it is called a monsoon.
Near the equator, it rains in every month and there are no seasons.
