Q1: What was hurricane Katrina famous for?

Hurricanes (also called typhoons in Asia), are spirals of air from which torrential rain falls and in which the wind blows at more than 117km/hr. Their winds can destroy houses and also cause the sea to surge onshore, flooding low-lying land.

Hurricanes are complete spiralling weather systems, not parts of clouds like tornadoes. They may be hundreds of kilometres across. They last for days and move slowly.

They get their energy from hot seas and fade away when they reach land.
