When you are at home, get a grown-up to show you the tank where the hot water is stored (often in the bathroom).

Try the cold water taps upstairs and downstairs (if you live in a house) to see if the water comes out at the same pressure. Otherwise, compare the way the cold water comes out of the tap to the rate the hot water comes out of the tap.
