Now here is the video with a purpose. Notice the information given by the voice is all planned out to tell you about zones of the town and also a bit about history. It also has fairly quiet music underlying it. The music is to carry the ear across gaps between the speaking. Notice how it get louder between talking pieces?

In this case the voice was added afterwards, and so was the music, but you could add the voice at the same time as you shoot the movie and so save a lot of time.

The important thing is to know WHY you are doing the movie and make up the text and what you are going to shoot before you do it. This bit is called making a story board.

Now click the filmstrip to see the whole video. Notice that it is still very simple. We don't need, and haven't the budget for, a blockbuster movie, but we do need to get it all together.

But... the video is only one possible way to make up a project. You can do excellent projects with still pictures (and even no pictures at all), so read on.
